WELCOME MESSAGE

Children grow and change in many different ways. The school psychologist is available to help parents, teachers, and children better understand and problem solve situations that arise.
The psychologist can provide consultation, intervention strategies, and assessments to address social, emotional and educational needs.
    • Consultation involves parents and teachers.
    • Interventions may include behavioral strategies, positive reinforcement plans or counseling support.
   • Assessments evaluate for special education needs (significant cognitive, learning or emotional difficulties).

In addition to speaking to your child’s classroom teacher, the school psychologist can serve as another resource for discussing questions about your child’s development, learning, and social skills.

If your child receives special education services, Dr. Shum is the case manager of your child’s program. Questions about your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) or the Committee on Special Education (CSE) can be directed to Dr. Shum.
