Mrs. Paige Heller-Lenga

I grew up in Great Neck and attended Lakeville, GN South Middle and Senior High Schools.  I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a double major in English Writing and Communications.  After graduating, I worked in the entertainment industry.   However, I felt a desire to work with children.  So, I quit my job and went back to school.   I received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.  I taught at a private school and was a Special Education Contractor working with families and children with Autism in Manhattan and Queens for ten years. During that time, I attended Teachers College, Columbia University and earned a second Masters Degree in Reading.  I have been working in Great Neck since 1999, first as a Special Education Teacher and now as a Reading Specialist.

I enjoy watching Yankee games with my son and going to the ballet with my daughter.  But my favorite activity is snuggling up and reading with my kids every night.  It has been great watching their tastes in literature mature and their reading abilities grow.  Now they read to me!

My family enjoys checking out different museums in NYC.   The Met and the Museum of Natural History are our favorites.  Whether it’s my son’s soccer games or catching a basketball game at Madison Square Garden, we love spending time together at different sporting events.  I love listening to music (especially music that reminds me of my high school days), DIY projects and most of all reading.
