What is Student Council?
The John F. Kennedy Student Council is a group of student leaders from grades three through five who collaborate with Mr. Gimondo, Mrs. Murray, and one another to enhance the John F. Kennedy School’s relationship with our local community and support the JFK school-wide goals. All representative are chosen through a fair and sensitive process and possess the following qualities:
Each member is always ready to learn!
Our Student Council Representatives work hard to support school-wide initiatives and plan fun activities and fundraisers to help our school and local community. Below you will find just a few of the many goals the Student Council Representatives accomplished throughout the 2015-2016 school year:
Added two Buddy Benches to our playgrounds
Created four free-standing libraries to promote literacy – three for our school and one that the Student Council donated to a neighborhood park.
Participated in a ceremony at the Steppingstone Park to donate the free-standing library.
Partnered with the Great Neck Parks Department, the Town of North Hempstead, and the Great Neck Historical Society to raise money for the renovation of the Stepping Stones Lighthouse.
Facilitated the collection of coats, school supplies, toiletries, food, and many more items to be donated to members of our local community.
Created and sponsored Kindness Week.
- Unity Days throughout the year – all students wore their JFK T-shirts to demonstrate unity on assembly and special occasion days.
