Mr. Connor Heaney

I grew up on Long Island in New Hyde Park before moving to Astoria, Queens. I received my bachelor’s degree from Marist College before receiving my master’s in elementary and special education from Queens College. Before coming to Great Neck, I worked at the Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI). Since arriving at Great Neck, I have worked at North High, Saddle Rock and now have found my own special education classroom here at JFK.

Outside of work at JFK, I enjoy spending time with my big Irish family. My mother and father were both born into very large families so I have lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins! I am the youngest of four and have six nieces and nephews that I spend tons of time with on the weekends. Every Saturday during the summer months, my entire family meets at Jones Beach Field 6 for a fun-filled afternoon at the beach.

When I am not teaching, I love to explore new areas of New York City. I also love to travel during my time off from school. Some of my favorite places that I have visited have been Italy and Greece. I enjoy going to Yankee games with my father and watching Giants football games on TV with my brothers. I have always enjoyed playing soccer and tennis in my free time, but when I am looking to relax you will be sure to find me at the beach. Recently, I have taken an interest in cooking and am always looking for new recipes.
