Mrs. Rebecca Schapira

I grew up on Long Island with my parents, sister, brother and 14 pets. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Penn State University, and taught abroad in England my senior year. I completed my master’s degree in Literacy at Dowling College and have a Special Education Certification from Touro College. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th Grade in Brooklyn, Fairfax County Public Schools and West Babylon. I am so excited to be a part of the JFK teaching community.

My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, husband, friends and pets.  My sister is an art teacher and my mom was a school librarian. My husband teaches 5th grade at E.M. Baker, and we love sharing our teaching adventures together. We are so fortunate that we get to work, learn and grow together in Great Neck.

When I am not teaching, I love to travel and try new things. In the fall, I watch Penn State football. GO Nittany Lions! Whether cruising, visiting Disney World or taking a road trip, I love having a good time and making new friends. My husband and I scuba dive together, love exploring the ocean and relaxing on the beach. We also enjoy outdoor concerts, Broadway and Art shows. I like to bike ride, hike, make jewelry, sing, dance, cook new dishes and read fiction and nonfiction. Life is an adventure!
