Mrs. Kate Sussman

I received my B.A. in History from the University at Buffalo and my M.S. in Childhood/Special Education from Long Island University. After finishing my coursework at Saint Joseph’s University, I obtained my certification and licensure as a BCBA. Prior to working at Great Neck, I worked as a teacher at B.C.C.S. in the Autism Program and as a Parent Trainer for Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. I have worked at E.M. Baker for the last two years as a co-teacher and I am so excited to join the JFK family!

I grew up in North Bellmore with my parents, my twin brother, my younger brother, and my dog Allie-who is treated as part of the family! My mother, a school librarian, helped to inspire my love for teaching. I recently moved to Plainview with my husband Matt, who teaches high school math in Rockville Centre.

Outside of the classroom, I love to go to the movies and spend time with my family and friends. I might be the only person in the world who loves the winter and all of the cold weather that comes with it! I love all animals, but especially dogs, and hope to adopt one of my own soon!
