Each year the Board of Education sets several goals it would like to achieve by the end of the school year. After much deliberation, the following goals were adopted by the Great Neck Board of Education for the 2011/2012 school year: |
To review the academic progress of the District including but not limited to a Board presentation of the New York State School Report Card in the spring of 2012. Additionally, the Board will oversee the movement toward the Common Core standards and examine how that will impact District curriculum. |
To look at the impact of the lower of the two percent or cost of living tax cap and its potential implications for the District. |
To identify and address imminent capital project needs for the District and enact a plan to implement them. |
To continue to oversee fairly negotiated collective bargaining agreements that are responsive to changing economic conditions. |
To continue to monitor enrollment trends and the effectiveness of the optional zones. |
To continue to develop the concept of Wellness for all members of the Great Neck school community and to evaluate the work of the Wellness Committee and the Health and Safety Committee. |
To continue to "go green" as a District without sacrificing the quality of our communication to parents and community. |
