A school plant should be the physical
expression of the educational philosophy of its planners and the
community. It services, and should enhance the environment in which
educational objectives will be achieved.
The Department of Building and Grounds is charged with the
responsibility for the operation, maintenance and protection of
school district property. This responsibility encompasses 1,340,000
square feet of buildings and 225 acres of grounds.
Each day, 5700 of our children enter five elementary and five
secondary buildings and 1500 adult students enter two adult
centers.
Building and Grounds personnel will supply services including general
housekeeping, security functions, assisting teaching staff and others
with equipment or supplies, maintaining heating and air conditioning
systems, care of grounds, repairs to the buildings, and other duties
that are designed to provide a pleasant, healthful and safe
environment for children and adults.
