Create a Rural, Suburban, and Urban

Communities Slide Show

1. Open the program NEIGHBORHOOD MAP MACHINE.

2. Click on CREATE NEW MAP.

3.Choose the size map you would like to create. (recommendation-small)

4. Use the roads, buildings, trees, landmarks, etc. to create a map of a rural community. Save it as a rural map. Make sure you save it in your documents folder.

5. Use the roads, buildings, trees, landmarks, etc. to create a map of a suburban community. Save it as a suburban map. Make sure you save it in your documents folder.

6. Use the roads, buildings, trees, landmarks, etc. to create a map of an urban community. Save it as an urban map. Make sure you save it in your documents folder.

7. When all three maps are made, go to the menu bar to SLIDE

SHOW. Pick new slide show. Name it COMMUNITY SLIDE SHOW. Add each of your maps to the slide show. As each map is being added, you have the option to record voice to the map. This is a great opportunity to practice your public speaking by giving brief summaries of what each of the communities are like.

NOTE: There are only 30 seconds to record. Also, you may need to ask your computer teacher in your school to activate the voice option so you can record.

8. To view the slide show, navigate back to the menu bar to SLIDE SHOW and pick run slide show.

This is a wonderful project to show at Spring Walk Through!
