Recycled Artwork Winners

Saddle Rock School's talented young artists were winners in the third annual Town of North Hempstead Recycled Artwork Contest. A fifth-grader was a winner in the "Use of Recycled Materials, Grade K-5" category. Her piece, "Window of Seasons," depicts the four seasons--winter, spring, summer, and fall--each in windowpane. The entire fourth grade, nearly 100 students, worked on the "Flower Screen (in the style of Jim Hodges)," taking "Outstanding in Creativity" in the Group Projects category. Contest faculty sponsor was Rosemary Sloggatt, art teacher. These projects will be on display through Jan. 6, 2012, along with other Contest winners, at the Great Neck Arts Center, 113 Middle Neck Rd.

Toy & Food Drives

The South High School faculty and staff recently collected over 100 toys to benefit the Sloan-Kettering Pediatric Cancer Center's annual toy drive. School employees have made the drive a yearly tradition.

Donations were bountiful at the Adult Learning Center's annual Food Drive, which this year benefited the Long Island Cares, Harry Chapin Food Bank.
