FOREWORD

"Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his
own eyes, there is the least of real liberty." -- Henry M. Robert

The Board of Education shall act as a legislative body in the determination of appropriate
policies for the control, operation, and maintenance of the local public school system.
The carrying out of such policies shall be the responsibility of the administrative staff.

We hope that this policy manual will serve as a guide for all those
who strive to maintain excellence in education in Great Neck.

- - Barbara Berkowitz, Chair
Board Policy Committee
