Science in the Kindergarten Curriculum

Children learn about science through hands -on experiences. Science is integrated into the kindergarten curriculum through units such as life science, magnets, sink/float, balance, and the five senses.

*Life science - the study of living and nonliving things, seasons

*Balance and *Magnets

*Sink/Float

*The Five Senses

Classroom lessons may include related literature, discussions, experiments and/or projects designed to develop a better understanding of science. Children draw and write in their science journals to record observations, responses and make predictions about different topics. Science instruction promotes discovery and encourages children's natural curiosity about the world around them.

In addition to classroom science, kindergarten children attend a special science class twice a month with the science teacher from Lakeville.
