Mr. Eric Nezowitz

Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write to you as I enter my 4th year as principal of Saddle Rock Elementary School.  I am privileged and honored for the opportunity to lead this distinguished school.  I grew up in New York City and have recently relocated to Long Island.

My career spans fifteen years and has taken me on many journeys.  I started my career as a teacher in Public School 225 located in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.  From there, I went on to become an assistant principal at Public School 215 in Gravesend, Brooklyn.  I then served as principal of Public School 46 on Staten Island before relocating to Long Island.  Most recently, I was an elementary school principal in the Plainedge School District.  As you see, I have a solid background at the elementary school level both as a teacher and administrator.  I have always said that nothing could replace that special bond that you have with children when you are a classroom teacher.  However, since becoming a principal, I have had the opportunity to spread my vision for success to an even wider audience and touch so many more lives.

Throughout my childhood, I attended the New York City Public Schools.  I believe it is my calling to give back and continue to build upon the wonderful work presently happening at Saddle Rock.  It is my vision to continue to build a warm, inviting school climate where children become lifelong learners who grow into responsible citizens.  I have no doubt that with the dedication of this fine staff, combined with parent support, central administration, and our Board of Education, our students will achieve at their highest levels.  My goal is for the children to enter Saddle Rock to learn, and in turn, go forth and take that knowledge to serve their communities and the world.  As the old African proverb saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  That is why you are so important to us.

As we look ahead, we will be taking important steps to further improve student achievement at Saddle Rock.  I have a strong literacy background and most of all I am an instructional leader who always looks for best practices.  My reading and writing workshop training from Teachers College have afforded me the opportunity to work with teachers and students alike.  We will work on improving parent-home communication and continue our work on character education.  I will continue to post a monthly parent letter on the school website to keep you  abreast  of the  latest happenings at  Saddle Rock.  Please take the time to read it on the website.  Well informed parents are a powerful force for improving schools.

In closing, you will quickly realize my passion and energy for my job.  I truly love what I do!  Rest assured your children are in good hands.  I make every decision with the best interests of the children in mind.  I have always been and will continue to be a hands-on leader.  Your children will always be my first priority.

I look forward to working closely with you and building a strong partnership.  I also welcome the opportunity to meet all of you and please feel free to email or call me or our assistant principal with any concerns or great ideas that you may have.  My door is always open.

Sincerely,

Eric Nezowitz
