Mr. Michael Schwartz started working in the Great Neck district in 1992 where he serves as Chairperson of the Music Department and Director of Instrumental Music. Mr. Schwartz was selected into the 2005 & 2002 Who's Who of America's Teachers. Mr. Schwartz received his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the Mannes College of Music, Master of Music Degree in Music Education from the Manhattan School of Music and State Certification in School Administration and Supervision from Hunter College. As a student of trumpet, Mr. Schwartz's teachers include William Vacchiano, John Ware, N.Y. Philharmonic; Mel Broiles, Metropolitan Opera and Murray Karpilovsky, N.B.C. Symphony. Mr. Schwartz has performed and conducted at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fischer Hall. He has performed on tour in South East Asia and the pacific as Principal Trumpet with the Long Island Youth Orchestra and throughout Italy with the Rome Festival Orchestra. Mr. Schwartz and his wife Jill have two sons, Matthew and Daniel.
Mr. Mark Boschen began teaching in the Great Neck schools in 1999. He is a full time music faculty teacher at Great Neck South Middle and South High. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he studied trumpet with Ronald Anderson, Chris Gekker and Susan Radcliff. He also holds a Masters Degree in Music Education from Five Towns College. Mr. Boschen has been asked to perform with various performing ensembles; some of which include the Brooklyn Brass and the Gemini Youth Orchestra. He's been teaching Trumpet privately for he past eight years. Mr. Boschen lives with his wife Heather in Suffolk County.
Mr. Tommy Marr graduated from Emerson College with a BA in Theatre Education, and from NYU with an MA in Educational Theatre and English Education. He also studied acting at The Boston Conservatory. Since acting in Boston, he has developed a diverse background in and Theatre Education. He has taught, administered, directed, and developed curriculum for many places in the Boston and New York areas including the Huntington Theatre Company, The Wheelock Family Theatre, Babson College, and the Roundabout Theatre Company, and Beacon School. Most recently, Tommy served as the Education Program Manager at Wingspan arts and taught English and Theatre on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Dr. Pamela Levy began working as Vocal Director at Great Neck South High in 1998. She received her Bachelor
of Music and Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School, and her D.M.A. from the Manhattan School of Music. She has directed choirs for several years, and is currently on the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory faculty where she is the director of the Women's Chorus. Dr. Levy and her husband Jacob reside in Great Neck with their son David.
Mr. Anthony Virgilio began working in the Great Neck School district during the 2006-7 school year as Director of the Sixth Grade Band (at South Middle), and instrumental assistant in the William A. Shine Great Neck South High School. This year Mr. Virgilio has the distinct honor of teaching two new courses here in South High along with his Sixth Grade Band. These courses include two sections of Beginner Acoustic Guitar, and a Music Technology elective entitled “An Introduction To Music Technology”. Mr. Virgilio received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia in December 2004, and his Masters Degree in Music Technology from Five Towns College during the summer of 2006. Mr. Virgilio lives with his family in East Meadow.
