About the Great Neck South High School Library
Library Hours - 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Library opens at 7:45 am and closes at approximately 3:30 pm
providing a place for students to study, work, and conduct research
before and after school. The library is always staffed
by a professional librarian (including lunch periods and before
and after school).
Print Collection - 25,000 plus titles
The Great Neck South High School Library offers a wide range of materials
that both support and enhance the curriculum.
The collection consists of reference, nonfiction, fiction, and magazines titles. Books can be checked
out for a period of two weeks. If more time is needed, they may be renewed.
Reference books and the latest magazines are used in the library only. A
printer/copy machine is available for student use.

DVD & Videocassette Collection - approximately 3,000 titles
The South High School Library's video collection holds approximately 2,000 items, including many videos from the former Central AV collection. Search South's online catalog for specific titles.
Computers & Electronic Resources
South High Library has 20 networked PCs on the library floor and one printer/scanner/copy machine. There
is one reader/printer/scanner to access our large microfilm collection. See a librarian for information on our holdings.
There is also a computer lab connected to the library that is open for class use. This computer lab contains
28 networked PCs.
The library classroom contains a rolling cart of 27 networked laptops that may
be signed out by teachers for class use.
The "Vista" lab is adjacent to the computer lab and contains 6
networked Mac computers.

Library Staffing
Ms. McClellan, the department chair, and Mr. Reader are school library media specialists.
The support staff consists of Ms. Marmo, Ms. McLaughlin, Ms. Conry, and Ms. Shabi.
