*Tickets for Cultural Heritage Night (Thursday, February 5) are on sale now! Tickets cost $5 and will be sold daily before homeroom. *The 8th grade Peer Leaders will be taking a trip to The Henry Viscardi School on Monday, February 2nd.
*On Monday, February 9, South Middle students will receive a visit from National Book Award-nominated writer Steve Sheinkin. Students in each grade level are reading separate books written by Mr. Sheinkin.
*South Middle's School musical, 42nd Street, will be performed on March 19 and 20 at 7:30 and March 21 at 1:00 and 7:00. More information can be found HERE.

*The Community Action Committee is sponsoring a Valentine's for Vets drive for veterans on Long Island. We are collecting socks, toiletries, note cards, stamps, sweatpants, patriotic t-shirts or caps, large print paper back books, large print crossword puzzles, electric razors, universal remotes, and CD's of the big band era or oldies. Please give all donations to your social studies teacher.
It is also sponsoring a school supply drive for St. Mary's Hospital in Bayside. Please bring all donations to room 603.
*It is with great pride that the Music Department offers up our happy congratulations to the 30 South Middle students who were selected to participate in the 2015 All-County Music Festival. These students were selected by a committee of music teachers from throughout Nassau County and represent the finest of our leaders, serving as an inspiration to student and teacher alike, selflessly using their great ability to enhance the productivity of the entire ensemble.
*CBS Channel 2 was at SMS on Thursday, 12/11, to do a story on our morning news show. The reporter was delighted that she had the opportunity along with her cameraman to spend two hours in our school. Click here to see the story.
