Language Arts

The focus of reading instruction is to help children develop strategies that will empower them to become independent, fluent readers. The children will learn to use context clues, picture clues and word analysis skills to decode and monitor their reading. They learn how to gather information and support conclusions with examples from the text. They apply strategies for comprehension and are able to retell a story accurately.

In addition, the children are encouraged to select literature from a variety of genres.
