  • Positive COVID-19 Cases

    On November 24, the GNPS community was notified that two staff members at North High School tested positive for COVID-19. This notification and all letters to the community regarding positive cases are available on the School Reopening webpage, or by clicking on the announcement title above.

  • COVID Yellow Zone Designation, Nov. 23

    On November 23, Governor Cuomo announced that Great Neck has been designated as a “Yellow Zone” as part of the New York State Micro-Cluster Strategy. This yellow zone designation carries specific requirements in order for schools to remain open. The District is working with the Nassau County Department of Health and Nassau BOCES to develop a plan to fulfill NYS requirements while meeting the best interests of our school community.   • JFK, Saddle Rock, North Middle & North High to Transition to Remote Learning for Nov. 23-24

    Out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with the Nassau County Department of Health (DOH), ALL students at John F. Kennedy, Saddle Rock, North Middle, and North High schools will transition to remote instruction for Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24. This notification and all COVID-related messages to the community are available on the School Reopening webpage or by clicking on the announcement title above.

  • Board of Education Meeting Scheduled for Nov. 18 at 7pm

  • CARES ACT Free Meals for All Program

    The Great Neck Public Schools is pleased to participate in the CARES ACT Free Meals for All program, available through the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Effective October 1, 2020, school meals are available to all GNPS students at no charge.

  • 2020-21 GNPS Print Calendar Available Online

    The 2020–2021 District Calendar has been mailed to households with school-age children. Residents without school-age children may request a copy by calling 441-4006. The print calendar is an abridged document that features only events that are less likely to be impacted by the pandemic and/or can be conducted virtually. A more complete list of district happenings is available on the interactive calendars on our district and building websites, which will be updated throughout the year.

  • Be Counted! U.S. Census Deadline is September 30

    It’s important that every household in our community completes the 2020 Census to make sure everyone is counted – especially children. This data will impact federal funding to the Great Neck school community over the next ten years. Individuals may respond to the Census online, by mail, or by phone.

  • Board of Education Meeting Scheduled for Sept. 16 at 5pm

    The Board of Education will hold a public action meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5:00pm (note change of time), via Zoom Webinar. Questions to the Board may be submitted via a link on the district website by 3pm on Friday, Sept. 11. Questions may also be submitted the night of the meeting via Zoom Q&A.

    In honor of School Board Recognition Week, elementary students expressed their appreciation for our Board trustees through a video presentation during the Oct. 21 Board Meeting. This video was coordinated by elementary students, staff, and principals, under the direction of Rob Zahn and the GNPS/TV crew, to highlight the outstanding educational opportunities made possible by our supportive Board of Education.

Registration Information

  • Universal PreK (UPK) Registration

    Registration for the Great Neck Public Schools Universal Prekindergarten Program (UPK) for the 2021–22 school year will begin on Nov. 2. Applications will be accepted and processed online only.

    This program is offered to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. To be enrolled, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2021.

    The UPK program is housed in-district at two sites: Parkville School (10 Campbell St., New Hyde Park) for families residing within the Baker, Lakeville, and Saddle Rock elementary school zones; and Kennedy School (1A Grassfield Rd., Great Neck) for families residing within the Kennedy elementary school zone. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. District bus transportation is provided to and from UPK for the morning or the afternoon session.

    In compliance with the New York State Education Department, some students can attend the Great Neck Community School, the collaborative agency, at 225 Schenck Ave., Great Neck. The school district does not provide transportation for this location.
