Registration Information

  • Online Registration Dates for 2022–23 Kindergarten & UPK 

    All applications to register for Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) and Kindergarten for the 2022–23 school year will be processed online.

    Universal Pre-K

    The District offers a UPK program to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. UPK Online Registration will open Oct. 25 through Nov. 12, 2021. To enroll, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2022.  

    Kindergarten

    Kindergarten Online Registration will open on Jan. 10, 2022. All children who will attend public or private school kindergarten in Sept. 2022 must be registered. Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022 is eligible for kindergarten.

  • NYSSMA Piano Showcase

    North High School junior Hwi-On Lee is one of only 12 students across New York State selected to perform in the NYSSMA Piano Showcase, part of the 2021 All-State Winter Conference.

  • National Merit Commended Students

    Forty-eight seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students placed among the top 50,000 of the more than 1.5 million juniors who took the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    The Great Neck Public Schools is honored to be recognized by Niche as the Best School District in New York State and third in the Nation. The district earned top ratings for academics, teachers, co-curricular activities, and safety.

  • Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition Winner

    South High senior Harrison Weinberg won second place in the 2021 Spellman HV Clean Tech Competition for his research and design of a model buoy system that can identify patches of oil and gas on the surface of water using a UV light intensity sensor.

  • Music Students Selected for All-State

    Eleven highly talented musicians from North and South High Schools have been selected for the prestigious and very competitive 2021 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Conference, to be held in Rochester on Dec. 2–5. In addition, 12 students have been named Alternates for the event.
