SCOPE After-School Enrichment for Pre-K through Grade 5
The District has partnered with SCOPE to offer after-school enrichment opportunities for students in PreK through grade 5. The program will run from January through June 2023. Registration is open; clink on the announcement title for more information.

The District has partnered with Northwell Health to provide additional mental health resources and services, including access to the Behavioral Health Center at Mineola for urgent care. Registration Information

Online Registration Dates for 2023–24 Kindergarten & UPK
All applications to register for Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) and Kindergarten for the 2023–24 school year will be processed online.
Universal Pre-K
The District offers a UPK program to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. UPK Online Registration is currently open. To enroll, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2023.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten Online Registration will open on Jan. 17, 2023. All children who will attend public or private school kindergarten in Sept. 2023 must be registered. Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2023 is eligible for kindergarten.

GNPS/TV Current Programs
Programs currently airing on GNPS/TV are District Faculty Recital, Adult Learning Center Graduation, and Focus on Education. GNPS/TV programming reflects the offerings of the Great Neck Public Schools and the achievements of its students and staff. Programs may be viewed within the incorporated villages of Great Neck on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32. Programs are also available on-demand, 24/7, on the GNPS/TV web page.

The Great Neck Community Ed Winter 2023 catalog is now available online, featuring a variety of in-person and online courses. Registration is underway and classes will begin the week of January 3. Visit the Community Ed web page for more details about course offerings and registration.

Student Artwork on Display at the State Capitol
Artworks created by eight North High School students are currently on display in the New York State Capitol as part of the 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Art and Essay Exhibition, hosted by the State Education Department (NYSED) and the Office of General Services.

Four Seniors Announced as U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates
The U.S. Department of Education has announced four GNPS seniors as candidates in the 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program: Benjamin Rubin from North High School, and Amit Saha, Joy Yang and Richard Zhuang from South High School.

Three GNPS Students Named Regeneron STS Scholars
Dana Kagan, Amit Saha, and Amber Sun are among 300 students to achieve this honor in the 2023 Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS), one of the nation’s most prestigious science competitions.

South High Fencing Teams Shine at Holiday Tournament
The South High School fencing teams competed against the best fencers on Long Island at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament. The Rebels had outstanding performances all around, with several students winning medals.

An audience of more than 100 students, parents, and faculty gathered in the school library to watch culminating presentations delivered by eight seniors who have devoted months of work to their science research projects.
