Early Dismissal Drill, 2/11
In order to comply with the New York State Commissioner of Education Regulations and to test our early dismissal procedures, all students will be dismissed ten minutes early from school on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Deadline Approaches for Teacher Award Nominations

Kindergarten Registration for 2021–22
Enrollment for the Great Neck public and private school kindergarten programs for the 2021–22 school year will begin on Jan. 25, 2021. All registration applications are now processed online.

Board Approves Partial School Tax Exemptions
The Great Neck Board of Education has approved a resolution to continue to honor partial school tax exemptions for qualified individuals in these groups: senior citizens with limited income; persons with disabilities and limited income; volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers; Gold Star parents; and veterans, including cold war veterans. Exemption requirements and qualification guidelines are explained on application forms, available through the Nassau County Department of Assessment.

GNPS Clothing Pantry FREE Shopping Event, 12/18 from 4-6pm
The Great Neck Public Schools Clothing Pantry will host an open house shopping event on Friday, Dec. 18 from 4-6pm. The event, located at Saddle Rock School (10 Hawthorne Ln.) will include FREE warm winter coats and various clothing items for Great Neck families in need.

Kindergarten & Universal Pre-K (UPK) Registration Remains Open
Kindergarten and UPK registration remains open for the 2021–22 school year. All registration applications are now processed online.
KindergartenAll children who will attend public or private school kindergarten in Sept. 2021 must be registered. Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2021 is eligible for kindergarten.
Universal Pre-KThe District offers a UPK program to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. To be enrolled, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2021.

GNPS/TV programming reflects the offerings of the Great Neck Public Schools and the achievements of its students and staff. South High Team Defends Championship Title at Regional Science Bowl
For the second consecutive year, a five-member team from South High School took first place in the Long Island Regional High School Science Bowl, sponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory. The team will will advance to the National Finals from Apr. 29 through May 3.

High School Teams Advance in Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Competition
Four teams of musicians representing North High and South High have been selected to present their ideas in the preliminary round of the Young Musicians Innovation Challenge, sponsored by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

South High Team Named Semifinalist in Solve for Tomorrow Competition
The South High Solve for Tomorrow team is one of 75 Semifinalists nationwide and will advance in the competition, which promotes STEM education, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills.

North Middle Spelling Bee Winner
Congratulations to eighth-grader Joy Wei, who won the North Middle spelling bee and will advance to the next stage of the competition to test her skills against other middle school spelling bee winners across Long Island.

South High Team Named Regional Finalists in Wharton Global Investment Competition
The South High team, named REBELS Investment Group, placed among the top 20 teams in the nation and will advance in the investment competition. This year's contest included more than 5,600 teams spanning 35 countries.

Lakeville School welcomed the Year of the Ox with a virtual Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 5. The Lakeville PTA created a video featuring presentations and traditional performances by Lakeville and South High students.
