The Carol Farber Honors Program at NCC Monologue Competition
The Carol Farber Honors Program at Nassau Community College is sponsoring its 22nd annual Monologue Competition for middle and high school students on March 7, 2020. The theme for this year's competition is "Thinking Outside the Box." A letter of intent, sent by your English teacher, is due by February 1, 2020, and is available in the English office.
Reynolds Young Writers Workshop
The Jonathan R. Reynolds Young Writers Workshop is an eight-day residential summer program in creative writing for current high school sophomores and juniors who love to write. Irish Cultural Society Writing Contest
The Irish Cultural Society of the Garden City Area is hosting the 2020 Martin J. Kelly Writing Contest which is open to student in grades 9 through 12. This year's theme is a rewriting of contemporary rules, incorporating Early Modern English phraseology. There are cash prizes for the winners and all entrants receive a certificate of merit. Fir Acres Writing Workshop
At Fir Acres Writing Workshop, sixty high school students from across the country come together for two weeks to write and join a community of writers on the beautiful, wooded campus of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. In daily workshops, participants study great writing and produce their own under the guidance of dynamic, thoughtful, published faculty. At night, participants gather to socialize, meet and hear from distinguished visiting writers, and work on their own poetry, fiction, and creative prose.
