  • The 2022-2023 the NMS Student Government has had a very successful school year. We are so grateful to have such committed student members. We have donated over $1400 to various school events and organizations. The SCO helped create and buy food for Thanksgiving baskets that were shared with our NMS families as well as St. Aloysius. Our successful fundraising efforts allowed us to support the Shared Decision Making Kindness Challenge program, costumes for student performances at the NMS Cultural Talent Show, various decorations at Multicultural Night, the "Worry Wall" Banner displayed in our cafeteria, various Blazers Day supplies, and the Achilles Marathon. We made charitable donations to the NMS PTO for the Earthquake Relief fund for Turkey and Syria as well as Relay for Life. We helped fund various student events that included writing competitions, NYSSMA, the Spelling Bee, and students in need at NMS. Our SCO members helped staff the ENL dinner, NMS Open House, 5th Grade Orientation, No Place for Hate Activities, and Gift of Life. We are so grateful to be part of a wonderful school community that encourages us to reach for the stars. We can't wait for what's to come in the 2023-2024 school year!

Members of NMS's SCO joined students from SMS and NHS at the ADL's No Place for Hate Banner Ceremony in Manhattan.  The annual celebratory event is hosted to honor the efforts of schools to combat bias and establish a sense of belonging for all stakeholders.

On February 6, 2023, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake and a series of strong tremors and aftershocks devastated the countries of Turkey and Syria. At NMS we Dare to Care. The NMS SCO is proud to donate $250 of funds raised through our school store to support the GNPS PTO/PTA's Relief Efforts to aid Turkish and Syrian nationals who have been impacted by the earthquake.
