Extracurricular Activities and Student Government
What extracurricular activities are offered to students?
- North High offers a variety of opportunities for students to become involved after school. For a complete list with dates, times, and descriptions, please visit the "Clubs and Activities" page found in the Student tab on the North High homepage. If you have a question about a particular club, please email the faculty advisor listed on the page.
Can a student still join a club if they missed the club fair or the first meeting?
- Yes! The student should contact the faculty club advisor to let them know that they are interested and will attend the next meeting.
Are there any other ways and opportunities for students to get involved in school activities?
- Yes. Students may run for office in the Student Organization or grade level positions. Students can volunteer to be on Shared Decision Making, drama, newspaper, literary magazine and other clubs. See the Clubs and Activities page for more information.
What theater productions are available to students? When are auditions held?
-
Junior Players, various musical productions, Thespians, and the Tri-M Music Society are offered to students in all grades. Please refer to the GNNHS calendar and student handbook for more details.
When are auditions held?
-
Auditions for all theater programs are announced. Ways to get involved in the theater include: Junior Players, a variety of musical opportunities, Thespians, the Tri-M Music Society, choir, a capella (meets every Friday after school) and the Chamber Choir (meets Thursdays and Fridays after school). Both are clubs and open to all students. If you have any questions, contact plevy@greatneck.k12.ny.us.
When do students run for student government positions?
-
The 10th, 11th and 12th graders run in the spring (from the end of March through May) for the following year. The 9th graders run at the beginning of the school year. Dates are picked to try to not interfere with testing (AP, Regents, etc.) and school events.
