What is the system that the school has in place to help the students succeed and not "fall through the cracks"?
- The school has a Study Skills program which is an academic intervention for students who are struggling with their course work. The students are instructed on different methods to study, take notes and other strategies. Reading specialists present skills lessons that address skills that are necessary for success in all classes, such as: time management and organizational skills; test preparation strategies; detail writing from expository material and observations; cooperative reading-learning; using graphics and visual aids (such as webs, cause-and-effect charts and outlines); vocabulary development; critical reading/thinking/writing; thematic and document based essay writing; and, science concepts. The instructional support team discusses at-risk students and creates a plan to support them.
