As an employee of the Great Neck Public Schools, you have the opportunity to participate in the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) or the New York State Employees’ Retirement System (ERS).
Participation in the retirement systems is mandatory for full-time teachers, full-time 12-month employees, and teaching assistants who work six hours or more. It is elective for part-time, hourly, or substitute teachers/employees, and 10-month ERS-eligible employees.
Both TRS and ERS provide numerous benefits to its members which include loans, service and disability retirement benefits, as well as death benefits.
