MAGLEV

  • Students learn the relevance of magnetism when it is used for transportation. Their goal is to design and build a car that will compete at the Cradle of Aviation, mid March of each school year, for the fastest time down a magnetized track. Schools from across the Island compete to have the fastest cars. There are multiple categories that students can enter and compete:

    1. Self propelled with a motor, propeller and battery pack
    2. Balloon powered vehicle
    3. Electrified track where cars have a motor and a propeller but power comes from feelers touching the sides of the electrified track.
    4. Gravity track where cars float down an inclined track under their own power.
    5. Futuristic Design
    6. Scale Model Design
