History

The Great Neck Public Schools has been a leader in educational television since the mid 1950's. Our full-production TV studio was originally designed to help elementary school children get a head start with learning foreign languages via closed-circuit instruction live from our studio. The fact that such a facility existed in a public school attracted the news departments of NBC, CBS and others.
During the 80's, the Great Neck Public Schools got its own 24-hour educational cable TV Channel 51 which was later changed to 72, and now to 75. This gave our schools the terrific opportunity to showcase wonderful student concerts, sports events, informative discussions with our administrators and teachers, our Board of Education, graduation ceremonies, and a wide variety of other programming to give the Great Neck community a fantastic window to see much of what makes the Great Neck Public Schools so great!
Today, our TV Studio, mobile production truck, and Final Cut non-linear editing suite make up one of the finest public school television teaching/production facilities in the world! Our greatest asset, however, has always been our student TV crew members and the incredible support and
participation which we all enjoy from our administration, teachers, parents, and the Great Neck Board of Education.
