Non-public School Information
In order to receive services provided by the school district such as textbooks and transportation, all non-public school students residing within the boundaries of the Great Neck Public School District must register with the Registration Department upon entering Kindergarten or within 30 days of moving into the district. Please click here to register if you have recently moved or if your child is entering Kindergarten. There is heavier volume than usual during the two weeks prior to the opening of school so please register before that timeframe if possible.
Each year, all existing non-public school students residing within the boundaries of the Great Neck Public School District must provide the name of the private school they will be attending for the upcoming school year. According to New York State law, this information must be provided to the school district on or before April 1 or, for new residents, within 30 days of establishing residency.
If you are already attending a private school and receiving transportation services, a digital form will be sent out via our ParentSquare notification system on January 2nd, 2025. If you did not receive this communication, please email parentsupport@greatneck.k12.ny.us with your student’s name along with your name and email and telephone contact information so we can send you the form.
To be eligible for transportation, the student must reside one half mile or more (Grades K-5), three quarters of a mile or more (Grades 6-8), or one mile or more (Grades 9-12) from the selected school. Applications for transportation to a school less than these limits will be denied.
Students must reside 15 miles, or fewer, from the selected school as per New York State Law. Applications for transportation to a school greater than 15 miles from the student’s residence will be denied as per Education Law § 3635.
If the school your child will be attending changes after completing the form, you must inform us of the change by emailing privateschoolrequests@greatneck.k12.ny.us. All changes to the school selection or submissions received after the April 1 deadline are considered late and will most likely be denied.
All students must have proof of residency on file at all times. A current lease must be provided upon expiration of an existing lease. Transportation services will be discontinued if a current lease is not provided.
