Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The GNPS School Reopening Advisory Committee is currently convening to help guide a safe and measured reopening of school for September. The District proactively established this committee in May to explore a variety of options for the delivery of instruction for the start of the 2020-21 school year.
The Committee is divided into five subcommittees to provide direction on how best to reopen our schools in a manner that provides for the health, safety, and wellness of all students and staff. The subcommittees will make suggestions for all scenarios, which include the opening of schools or a continuation of schools forced to remain closed.
Committee members have been selected to best represent all stakeholders in our school community. The committees are composed of representatives from the Board of Education, administration, teachers, staff, and parents as well as medical professionals.
In the meantime, the District awaits further guidance about the reopening of schools from the Governor’s Reimagine Education Advisory Council, the New York State Board of Regents, and the State Education Department. District plans will be developed in accordance with guidelines provided by education officials, our local and state Departments of Health, and the Centers for Disease Controls.
