Please be reminded that you should NOT open the door to allow anyone into the building. All visitors must come in through the main entrance to be signed in by the security guard.
If you see anyone in the building without an ID, please direct them to security and call the main office. Students, please let an adult know.
Remember all exterior doors should be closed and locked at all times.
- The third quarter parking meeting will be next week on Thursday, January 24th, 2019 after school in the auditorium at 2:35 PM
- All seniors with a senior license by the first day of the third quarter, January 28th, may apply for parking.
- Before attending the parking meeting check the Student/Parent Driving information page on South High’s web page for the checklist, applications, and additional information.
- All seniors must attend this meeting in order to apply for parking. All students must reapply for third quarter parking, and all carpoolers and Facing History students who will be driving must attend too.
Remember: parking is limited so carpool and parking is a privilege! All must follow school policies or risk losing their parking! Any questions? See Dean Schiereck in Room 327.
Last night the Boys and Girls Fencing teams extended their unbeaten streaks to 10 – 0 and 11 – 0. The boys were led by Seniors Edward Guo who was 5 and 1 and by Captain Kevin Feng who was a perfect 5 and 0 on the evening. With only 3 meets left the Rebels look to secure their Division Championship on Friday as they face Garden City home at 5:00 PM. Come out and support your sports teams South. Rebels on 3!
Congratulations to our three chamber music groups selected as winners of the Long Island Regional “Young Musicians Program”. These students included: Sam Levine, Eli Goldberger, Ben Rossen, Nick Langel, Daniella Brancato, and Christina Claus. They will perform on February 6th at the Tilles Center in the Young Musicians Concert.
All NYSSMA forms are now available in the music suite, Room 309. Please be aware of all deadlines for return. Checks are to be made out to Great Neck Public Schools. Make sure you
check the current NYSSMA Manual effective July 2018 for all information included on your application.
The deadline for Piano NYSSMA applications and checks has passed. If you plan to participate in Piano NYSSMA this year and have not turned in your application, please see Mr. Schwartz today in Room 309.
Student Government will be selling Rebel sweatshirts and tee shirts this week before school and during the school day in the front hall. There is still availability of our “winter line” but act fast.
Valentines for Vets
For the next 2 weeks, the Support Our Troops Club at Great Neck South will have a box in the main hall for donations to veterans for Valentine’s Day. Help make a Vets Valentine’s Day a little sweeter. Suggested items include handmade valentines, non-slip socks, winter hats, gloves, scarves, sweatpants, sweatshirts, electric toothbrushes, electric razors, gift cards, DVD’s, CDs and toiletries.
This year’s MLK Assembly is underway! We will have a guest speaker this year. There is information posted on the bulletin board in the health hallway. Please check out our QR codes and use the Google Form to send questions to the speaker!
Attention All Seniors:
Seniors, if the college you applied to requires mid-year grades, please complete the Mid-Year Grade form that has been sent to you via email or pick up the form in the Guidance Office. Please return these forms to Guidance no later than Friday, January 25th.
