The Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education consists of five residents, elected by fellow residents in the annual school district election held in May. Each trustee serves a three-year, unpaid term. Terms are staggered, with one or two seats up for election each year. The Board has broad legal powers and responsibilities for determining educational policy, for supervising the administration of the schools, and for levying taxes on properties to support school district operations. The Board's chief executive officer is Superintendent of Schools Dr. Teresa Prendergast.
