All Great Neck Public Schools students in grades 1-12 who are instrumentalists, pianists, and vocalists are eligible to participate in the NYSSMA festivals. Students are given the opportunity to perform a prepared piece before an adjudicator and receive a written evaluation and grade. The scores are used to help students improve their performance, and to be nominated for the All County and All State ensembles.

Music must be selected from the current NYSSMA Manual (Edition 33 - Effective July 2022). Each Great Neck school music teacher has this manual and all students must register through them. No photocopies of music will be permitted during auditions. Besides having original sheet music for your child, you are required to bring one additional original copy for the adjudicator (two originals in total).

If your child is interested in participating, please download and fill out the appropriate form and return it along with the fee to their school music teacher no later than January 28, 2026. Late forms will not be accepted.
