Dear GNPS Community,

Earlier this week, Niche released its annual rankings of the Best K-12 Schools, placing Great Neck Public Schools 11th in New York State. While we are proud to be recognized among the state's leading school districts, we also recognize that this year's ranking differs from those of recent years.

As these rankings receive widespread attention, I want to provide our community with some additional context and reaffirm what we see every day in our schools: our students continue to excel and our educational programs remain exceptional.

In reviewing the 2027 Niche calculations, we identified a significant data point that does not align with state and district records. We have brought this discrepancy to Niche's attention and are working with the organization to review the underlying data used in its assessment and how it may have impacted our ranking. 

More importantly, our students' achievements speak to the strength of the educational experience we provide. Performance on state assessments, Regents and Advanced Placement exams demonstrate continued academic excellence. Our students also earn recognition at the local and national levels in competitions spanning the arts, business, engineering, science research and more.

While rankings offer one perspective on a school district, they cannot capture the depth of our programs, the dedication of our educators, or the many ways our students succeed. We are proud to provide every student with opportunities, resources and support to discover their path to a bright and successful future.
