Dear GNPS Community,

We hope that all families remain warm and safe and that our students enjoyed this traditional snow day today.

Due to the diligence of our buildings/grounds and custodial teams, we will be set to go for a regular opening tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 27). We thank our team for working tirelessly to make certain our buildings are safe and ready for student/staff arrival tomorrow.

That being said, as of the writing of this email, not all neighborhood roads have been completely cleared to allow for adequate bus access. Therefore, it is highly likely that some of our routes (both public and private) will be delayed tomorrow as they navigate the imperfect road conditions. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Our drivers' top priority, as you know, is safety - not speed.

When planning the 2025-26 calendar, three "emergency closing days" were built in. We have now used one -- meaning two more remain. Should the district be required to close (for any reason) for more than two more days, a shift will be made to virtual/remote instruction. Reminders for what virtual learning looks like at each level (Elem./MS/HS) will be sent out in advance of such a decision. Our faculty will be prepared to make such a shift if it should become necessary.

With more snow in the forecast for this coming weekend, the winter of 2026 is shaping up to be one to remember!

Warm (as possible) regards,

Kenneth R. Bossert, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
