Dear GNPS Community,

I am pleased to announce that a selection committee has completed a comprehensive search for the next principal of Village School, following the retirement of current principal Steve Goldberg this summer. It is anticipated that the Board will appoint Lauren Sullivan as Village School’s principal, effective July 1, 2026, at the upcoming public meeting on March 11. 

As mentioned in my November 13, 2025 communication, when the Board of Education accepted Mr. Goldberg’s letter of retirement, the District immediately began a search for the next exemplary leader for our unique Village School program. A committee composed of faculty, administrators and parents reviewed numerous applications and interviewed an impressive group of candidates before making its recommendation.

Ms. Sullivan is well known to the students, parents and staff at Village School, having served on the faculty for 15 years. She joined the Village family in 2011 as an English teacher and has contributed to many aspects of the program – from class scheduling and college admissions support to parent meetings and special events. Her deep understanding of the school’s culture and students positions her well to lead Village School into its next chapter. I am confident that her experience and commitment will preserve the distinctive character of the program while continuing to nurture the social, emotional and academic growth of its students.

On behalf of the Board of Education, I extend my appreciation to the members of our search committee for dedicating significant time and thoughtful consideration throughout this important process. Our District’s comprehensive selection process reflects the collaborative spirit of our school community.

The timely completion of this search will allow for a well-planned transition in the months ahead. While Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Goldberg already work together daily, this transition will provide valuable time to focus on administrative responsibilities and ensure a smooth start to the 2026–27 school year at Village School.
