Dear GNPS Community,
As previously shared, Ms. Michelle Bell’s appointment as Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education at last night’s Board of Education meeting creates a principal vacancy at Parkville School. It is anticipated that the Board of Education, at their June 17, 2026 Board meeting, will appoint veteran administrator and former Parkville principal Kathleen Murray as Parkville’s interim principal, effective July 1, 2026, as we search for a permanent principal. It is anticipated that this search will be completed during the summer months.
As you know, Ms. Murray has been acting assistant principal at E.M. Baker during the current school year. Prior to her retirement in 2021, she served as an elementary building administrator in the district for seven years. Ms. Murray dedicated her entire career to elementary education, including more than 25 years as a classroom teacher before becoming an administrator. She joined our district in 2014 as the assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Elementary, and she served as principal at Parkville School from 2018 through 2021.
Ms. Murray will work with Ms. Bell to ensure a smooth transition and make certain all aspects of readiness are completed for the start of the school year in September. We welcome Ms. Murray “home”, and thank her once again for her support of our students, faculty and staff.
Sincerely,
Kenneth R. Bossert, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
