At the March 25 public meeting, the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education honored North High students and staff who played a key role in the school’s second annual Unity Day. This successful program, developed through collaboration with the North High Shared Decision Making Committee, is a school-wide event in which students share personal experiences and performances to an audience of their peers to foster greater understanding, compassion, and cultural awareness. In his remarks to the Board, Dr. Dan Holtzman expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, adding that the Unity Day program “reminds us that we are a community united by respect, empathy, and shared experiences.” Pictured here, North High Unity Day coordinators, presenters, and performers are applauded by Board of Education President Grant Toch, Vice President Donna Peirez, Trustees Joanne Chan, Steve Chen, and Rebecca Sassouni; Superintendent Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert; Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education (and former North High Principal) Dr. Dan Holtzman; and Interim North High Principal Thomas DePaola.
