The Great Neck Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting at the Phipps Administration Building on July 9, 2024. District Clerk Suzanne Mallozzi administered the oath of office for individuals who will serve in various roles for the 2024–25 school year.
Steven Chen and Grant Toch were each sworn in for a three-year term on the Board of Education following their election by the community in May. This will be the first full term for Mr. Chen, who was appointed to the Board in September 2023 to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of a Board trustee. This is the second consecutive term for Mr. Toch, who has served on the Board since 2021.
The Board of Education then voted to appoint Mr. Toch and Donna Peirez to serve as President and Vice President of the Board, respectively, for the 2024–25 school year. This will be Mr. Toch’s first year as President; he served as Vice President for 2023–24. Ms. Peirez, an eight-year member of the Board, had previously served as Vice President during the 2021–22 school year.
Additionally, Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert took the oath of office to continue his duties as Superintendent of Schools and Stacey Pedone was reappointed as District Treasurer. The Board approved the remainder of the organizational agenda, which included the appointment of the deputy district treasurer and professional service providers for the new school year.
