GNPS Board of Education and Professional Associations Honor Retirees

2023-24 retirees are pictured with the Superintendent and Board of Education trustees

The Board of Education and professional associations representing teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and civil service employees of the Great Neck Public Schools hosted a recognition event on June 13 to honor 38 employees retiring from the District this school year.

During the ceremony, administrators spoke on behalf the retirees from their respective school buildings and shared warm anecdotes to illustrate how each employee has positively impacted our school community during their time in the Great Neck Public Schools.

Administrators who will retire this summer are Dr. Gerald Cozine, North Middle School principal, and Ellice Geller, supervisor of special education.

Retiring teachers, with their school buildings, are: Sally Coons, Margaret Dooley, and Jennifer Snyder, E.M. Baker Elementary; Linda Gitman and Malka Rahmanan, John F. Kennedy Elementary; Anastasia Papoutsis and Leslie Watnik Dalis, Lakeville Elementary; Miri Kessar, Robin LeVergne, Thomas Mangan, and Norine Nagle, North Middle; Kimi Semder, North High; Jayne Pappas, South High; and Joy Susi, Pupil Personnel Services.

The Adult Education program at Clover Drive has one retiree, Lynn Sherlock.

Retirees from the Buildings and Grounds professional associations include: Anthony Catalano, J.F. Kennedy; Gary Jenkins, North High; Errol Kidd, South Middle; Edwin Mejias, North High; and Peter Rapp, South High.

The Office Staff Association has three retirees: Anna Bertorelli and Jaye Anne Gregorio, North High; and Joyce Masef, South High.

Paraprofessionals retiring this year are: Judy Krug, E.M. Baker Elementary; Deborah Dombroski, John F. Kennedy Elementary; MaryAnn Biscotti, Sarah Cohen, Catherine Eilenberg, and Randy Navo, Lakeville Elementary; Ana Delgado, Parkville School; Sheila DeFranco, Saddle Rock Elementary; Mary Campisi and Deborah Cassetta, North High; and Lisa Lao, Donna Leone, and Susan Weiss-Horowitz, South High.
