On August 27, the Great Neck Public Schools hosted a New Faculty Orientation to welcome new teachers for the 2024–2025 school year. New teachers and pupil personnel staff were greeted by Board of Education President Grant Toch, Vice President Donna Peirez, and Trustees Joanne Chan and Rebecca Sassouni; Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert; Deputy Superintendent John O’Keefe; Assistant Superintendents Dr. Stephen C. Lando, Diana Haanraadts, and Dr. Joseph Hickey; Director of Human Resources Jennifer Kirby; Great Neck Teachers Association (GNTA) President James Daszenski; Association of Supervisors and Administrators (SAGES) President Stephen Goldberg; building principals and other administrators.
The New Faculty Orientation program was spread over two full days to provide new teachers with important information and tools for a successful start to their first year in the district. On day one, all new teachers met in the South High library to learn about district services and procedures from administrators representing about human resources, special education, technology, and more.
For day two, new teachers reported to their assigned buildings to meet colleagues and learn more about the schools in which they will be working. In the afternoon, new teachers were joined by Superintendent Dr. Bossert for a bus tour around the community. The tour, led by guides from the Great Neck Historical Society, highlighted Great Neck's deep history and stopped at several landmarks throughout the peninsula. Guest speakers from the Great Neck Parks Department and the Great Neck Library were also present at a few of the stops to share information about the services they offer within the community.
Welcome to the newest members of the GNPS family!
