Great Neck Students Shine at WAC Lighting Science Fair

Forty-four high school students from the Great Neck Public Schools received awards at the 2025 WAC Lighting Foundation Invitational Science Fair, hosted by Roslyn High School on April 27. This annual science fair is organized by the Research Association, a consortium of teachers from 13 area schools, and sponsored by WAC Lighting.

Science research projects presented by students from North High School (NHS) and South High School (SHS) earned awards in all nine categories of competition.

General Biology: Becky Kwan (SHS), second place; Nicole Volman and Lauren Salehani (NHS), second place; Joyce Xu and Kaitlin Qu (SHS), third place; Daniel Davidson (NHS), third place; Elaine Su and Elise Lee (SHS), third place; Joshua Kiaei (NHS), honorable mention; Zirong Jiang and Eric Bord (SHS), honorable mention.

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology: Evelyn Gao (SHS), honorable mention.

Medicine & Health: Whaiming Wang and Brain Zhang (SHS), second place; Sarah Joseph and Jessica Jacob (SHS), second place; Ashley Nguyen (SHS), third place; Samantha Dong and Sujin Kim (SHS), third place; Aaron Jiang and Jackson Ranada-O’Mara (SHS), honorable mention; Syvonne Shadi (NHS), honorable mention; Leah Heimowitz, Juliette Yashaya and Nava Sedaghat (NHS), honorable mention; Ella Leung and Lily Long (SHS), honorable mention; Chenxu Wang (SHS), honorable mention.

Behavioral Science: Tomi Shamash (NHS), honorable mention; Sophia Li (NHS), honorable mention.

Chemistry: Zimu Wang, Tyson Wu and Flora Zhu (SHS), third place; Michelle Cheng and Jessica Cao (NHS), honorable mention.

Earth & Environmental Sciences: Noah An and Terrence Lin (SHS), honorable mention.

Physics: Julian Elihu (NHS), first place; Aiden Jin (NHS), second place.

Engineering: Nandini Khaneja and Benson Chou (SHS), second place; Kian Soleymani (NHS), honorable mention.
