The Junior Players of Great Neck North High School will proudly present Sense and Sensibility on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. Under the direction of North High Theatre Director Chris Giordano, this elegant and heartfelt production will take place in the school’s auditorium, 35 Polo Rd.
Adapted from Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate love, loss, and societal expectations in Regency-era England. Torn between following their hearts and upholding their family’s dignity, the sisters learn that true happiness requires both rationality and passion. With its timeless story of love, resilience, and self-discovery, Sense and Sensibility promises to be a captivating evening for audiences of all ages.
“Each year, I strive to challenge our students with productions that help them grow as performers and storytellers,” says Director Chris Giordano. “With Sense and Sensibility, students have embraced the challenge of working with heightened language, period accents, and the complexities of Austen’s world. It’s a play that still resonates today, reminding us of the balance between emotional vulnerability and social restraint.”
With historically inspired costumes, elegant staging, and a rich ensemble-driven performance, this production brings Austen’s world to life with authenticity and charm.
