Retired GNPS Transportation Supervisor Donovan Howell was recognized for his extraordinary service to our school community during a Nassau County Legislative Meeting on Jan. 27. Mr. Howell, who officially retired from the district on Jan. 17, has dedicated over 43 years of service to the Great Neck Public Schools.

Mr. Howell first joined the Great Neck Public Schools in 1981. During his time in the Transportation Department, he has been instrumental in the safe, efficient transportation of more than 8,000 Great Neck students each year, including those attending in-district, private, parochial, and special schools. At Monday's Legislative Meeting, Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip spoke about Mr. Howell's outstanding service, presented him with a citation, and extended her sincere gratitude and congratulations on his retirement.

GNPS Deputy Superintendent John O'Keefe and Food Services Director/District Registrar James Gounaris were on hand to applaud Mr. Howell, who was also joined by his family and friends. Thank you, Mr. Howell, for over four decades of service to our school community!
