Faculty, staff, and administrators kicked off the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday, September 3, with a Superintendent's Conference Day program at South High School. The event was conducted both live and virtually to include all employees districtwide.
Staff received a warm welcome through remarks by Superintendent Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert, Board President Grant Toch, Association Presidents Steve Goldberg and Jim Daszenski, and Assistant Superintendents Dr. Stephen C. Lando and Diana Haanraadts. Board of Education Vice President Donna Peirez and Trustees Joanne Chan, Steven Chen, and Rebecca Sassouni were also in attendance to share their best wishes for an exciting and productive year.
The keynote speaker for this year's program was Julie Smith, a published author and Webster University School of Communications faculty member specializing in News Media Literacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Her presentation furthered the district's focus on teaching News Media Literacy and set the stage for discussions and professional development about AI in the coming school year.
