At the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education meeting on April 21, trustees applauded Parkville School on their designation as an Apple Distinguished School.
“At Parkville School, we’re building the foundation for a lifetime of learning, innovation, and possibility,” explained Parkville Principal Michelle Bell in her remarks to the Board. “This recognition affirms the work we’re doing, but more importantly, it reflects who we are as a school community.”
Mrs. Bell expressed her appreciation to all Parkville staff for their thoughtful, balanced, and developmentally appropriate approach to technology. She highlighted the efforts of the school’s technology and STEAM teacher, Kelly Mekeel, for her leadership and support. “Her expertise ensures that technology is implemented in ways that are purposeful, accessible, and aligned to student needs. She approaches her work with creativity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to both staff and students.”
Mrs. Bell also thanked Rob Zahn, director of educational television and broadcast media, for creating an Apple application video that demonstrates how Parkville utilizes technology as a tool to build community and empower every student to tell their story.
Parkville is the fourth school in the district to earn the Apple Distinguished School designation, joining E.M. Baker, John F. Kennedy, and Saddle Rock elementary schools.
