
The Great Neck Public Schools is pleased to announce that South High School counselor Dr. Carly Bank has been selected as a Master Counselor through the New York State Master Teacher Program (NYSMTP).
Dr. Bank has supported students as a school counselor at South High for 20 years. In addition to her school counselor certificate, she also holds an advance certificate in educational leadership for both the school building and district levels. She achieved national board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2019, and she earned her doctorate in instructional leadership from St. John’s University in 2024.
In addition to her counseling responsibilities, Dr. Bank serves as the faculty advisor for the Students Putting an End to Cancer club at South High. She is also a member of the Hofstra University Undergraduate Admissions Counselor Advisory Board.
The NYSMTP is a four-year program, during which time participants provide peer mentoring and intensive professional development for their colleagues with a focus on supporting early career teachers and counselors. Master Teachers and Master Counselors are selected by a rigorous, multi-step application process.
Dr. Bank is the latest Great Neck educator to join the prestigious Master Teacher program. She joins fellow GNPS educators Kevin Blumberg, Holly Cipriano, Neel Chugh, Dr. Jo-AnnEyre Cruz, Michael DiPasquale, Tobias Hatten, Terri Lester, John Paul Kopacz, Donna Plante, and Andrea Zinn.
The NYS Master Teacher Program is a network of outstanding, experienced K-12 classroom teachers and counselors who are dedicated to professional development and to providing the most innovative, engaging and supportive learning environment for their students. More than 1400 highly-talented educators have been named to the program since its inception in 2013.
