On June 28, Great Neck Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert was officially sworn in as president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS).

Dr. Bossert was elected by his fellow NYSCOSS members to lead the organization for the 2026–27 school year, and he previously served as president-elect for the 2025–26 year. He is the second GNPS superintendent to serve as president of the organization; Dr. John L. Miller, after whom Great Neck North High School is named, served from 1961–62.

In addition to his work with NYSCOSS, Dr. Bossert is a member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Council, president of the SCOPE Board of Directors, and a member of the Nassau County Council of School Superintendent Executive Committee. Dr. Bossert also serves as an adjunct professor for Stony Brook University’s educational administration program and participates in multiple Superintendent development programs. Additionally, Dr. Bossert is a past president of the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association.
