For the first time in school history, North High Robotics Team #13375, known as the Goatbusters, has won the regional Long Island championship title and secured a spot at the FIRST World Championships in Houston, TX.

On March 1, the Goatbusters competed in the regional FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Long Island Championship at Hewlett High School. On the playing field, the team was named captain of the winning alliance and ranked number one going into the playoff matches and alliance selection.

Additionally, the team was awarded first place in the FTC Control Award in recognition of the impressive programming their robot utilized in competition. The Control Award, sponsored by Arm, Inc., celebrates the team that uses sensors and software to enhance robot functionality, reliability, and innovation on the field. It focuses on autonomous operation, intelligent control systems, and consistent, high-performance robot operation.

As a result of their performance at the FTC Regional Championships, the Goatbusters will advance to the FIRST World Championships this spring in Houston. The coaches of the North High Robotics team are mathematics teacher Michael McDermott and science teacher Alan Schorn.
