The Great Neck South High School Music Department will proudly present The Tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach, on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium, 341 Lakeville Rd. This popular opera will be performed in French (with English supertitles), and singers will be accompanied by an orchestra of students and staff.
Offenbach’s drama places the title character, Hoffmann, in three, fanciful stories of failed love. The result is a grand and expressive nineteenth-century French opera. The Tales of Hoffmann is suitable for all ages.
This opera is under the musical direction of Dr. Janine Robinson, vocal music teacher; conducted by Michael Schwartz, instrumental music teacher/performing arts department head; and directed by Alex Paul Sheerin.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, and $10 for students and children. A special ticket price of $5 is available for South High students. Tickets may be purchased in advance at https://cur8.com/26290/project/137372, or purchased at the door on the night of the performance. There will be open seating for both performances.
