GNPS/TV Wins National & International Awards

Great Neck Public Schools Television (GNPS/TV) is the proud recipient of four national awards through the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) 2024 Hometown Media Awards and four international awards through the 45th annual Telly Awards.
2024 Hometown Media Awards
The Hometown Media Awards is a national awards program that recognizes outstanding community media and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational, and Governmental access cable television channels. Nearly one thousand entries are submitted each year.
GNPS/TV was awarded the top prize in Overall Excellence in Educational Access, the fourth time it has done so (2016, 2018, 2020). Additionally, three individual productions by GNPS/TV received awards. District Faculty Recital, a scholarship fundraising event, featuring inspiring music performances by district faculty, won in the Local Performances category. Coverage of the annual South Middle Cultural Heritage Celebration, which recognizes the cultural mosaic of the South Middle community, won in the Educational Activities category. Lastly, “Spaghetti Dinner Two,” a fictional short film promoting a South Middle School fundraiser and starring GNPS/TV staff, won Best Original Drama/Comedy. Its predecessor, “Spaghetti Dinner,” won the same award in 2017.
45th Annual Telly Awards
The Telly Awards is an international program that honors excellence in video and television across a variety of platforms. GNPS/TV, which competes in the Television-Student category, received a Gold Telly trophy for the video “Technology and Engineering in GNPS,” which highlights those departments and programs across all grade levels in our district. A Silver Telly was awarded the broadcast of the South High Opera, Le Nozze di Figaro. A Bronze Telly was awarded for HTV News, South Middle’s live daily morning news show, and a second Bronze Telly was awarded to “Spaghetti Dinner Two.”
