GNPS/TV Wins International Telly Awards

Great Neck Public Schools Television (GNPS/TV) is the proud recipient of four trophies through the 46th annual Telly Awards, an international program that honors excellence in video and television across a variety of platforms. The GNPS/TV team received one Silver Telly and three Bronze Telly trophies in the General-Student category of competition. Additionally, a student film created in South High School’s Independent Film Study course was also awarded a Silver Telly.

A Silver Telly was awarded for Lakeville Elementary School’s World Kindness Day activities on November 13, 2024, which included impressive aerial drone footage of more than 800 students and staff creating a giant peace sign on the school field.

The student film “The Echoes of Elara” was also awarded a Silver Telly Award. This film was created by South High students Jagger Cardinale, Maisyn Cardinale, Michelle Harris, Jessica Tamari, Sophia Voicu, and Raymond Zhang through the school’s Advanced Filmmaking course. This celebrated student film was also screened at the Astoria Youth Film Festival, received a silver medal at the New York Film Alliance Film Festival, and awarded Best Director honors at the Rochester Teen Film Festival.

Bronze Telly trophies were awarded for three GNPS/TV-produced programs: a Board of Education Appreciation video, which was created in partnership with District elementary schools in October 2024 to celebrate New York State School Board Recognition Week; coverage of the “Celebrating Dr. Teresa Prendergast” districtwide event from May 2024, which included the dedication of the Great Neck South High School baseball field in Dr. Prendergast’s memory and a faculty softball game to christen the field; and E.M. Baker Elementary’s successful Apple Distinguished School video application, which demonstrated how Baker educators utilize iPad devices to inspire, imagine, and impact learning across all subject areas and grade levels.
