February 2023 Programming

The North High School Fine and Performing Arts Department presented their Winter Concert over two evenings in December. Tune in to GNPS/TV to view the first concert from Dec. 7, featuring performances by vocal soloists and the Concert Choir under the direction of Fine and Performing Arts Department Head/vocal music teacher Dr. Pamela Levy, and the Chamber Ensemble under the direction of instrumental music teacher Dr. Esther Noh.

The South Middle School Performing Arts Department presented Winter Concert I on Dec. 12, featuring grade 7–8 musicians in the Senior Orchestra, Senior Chorus, and the Senior Band. Student ensembles performed classical selections, popular works, and traditional holiday classics. Instrumental students are taught by Music Department Head Alan Schwartz, Mark Boschen, and Andrew DeNise; choral students are taught by Korey Coppola.

The annual South High Cultural Heritage Night features a variety of student performances that celebrate the cultural diversity of the school community. The GNPS/TV crew was on hand at this year’s event on Dec. 2, 2022, to capture all the wonderful songs, dances, and presentations.

Focus on Education is a series hosted by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Teresa Prendergast, highlighting what’s new and interesting in the district. This episode features Dr. Edel McCarville, who joined the GNPS Department of Pupil Personnel Services in August as the Supervisor for Secondary Special Education.
